Accepted (2006)

This is a movie that cannot be missed. When the trailers started showing on television about six months ago, I was not impressed. "Another teen comedy with outrageous situations and accomplishments" is what I thought to myself. The wife insisted on her and I renting and watching this movie the day it came out. I was very suprised at how amazingly funny this movie was and how bold the moral of the story is. I have to give this movie ALOT of credit for not using extremely vulgar language and nudity to get their jokes across. Hell, my mom enjoyed the movie and was appreciative of the same thing. Hopefully more movies can break the sex, swearing, and drugs routine and make you geniunely laugh like this one has.
Outline
The main character "Bartleby" (Justin Long) is fresh out of highschool and faces the presure and transition to college. The pressure is brought on by his parents that he needs a college education to go anywhere in life and the obstacle is that he has been denied acceptance to every college he applies to. So what does a desperate young guy do? Of course, makes up his own college. From there, Bartleby and his friends are faced with many conflicts to make the school seem legit. I could go on, but I'm not here to ruin anything for you.
Memorable Characters
Justin Long

Justin Long plays the main character "Bartleby" that is not only believable but well executed. I have to admit I didn't like him in Jeepers Creepers, The Break-Up, Dodgeball, or as "The Mac Guy", but he was very likeable in this flick.
Jonah Hill

Jonah Hill is even funnier and just as heavy as his role in "Grandmas Boy". This guy has such a strange way of acting, but it has to be some of the best bold faced sarcasm you'll ever see. Hands down he's on the top five reasons to check this movie out. Look forward to some of his newer movies because this guy has lost ALOT of weight since this movie.
Adam Herschman

I promise you will fall in love with Adam Herschman's character "Glen" in this movie, he's the tolken brain dead class mate with a few one liners that will have you spraying your pants in no time. I'll never forget the part where Glen is helping Lewis Black move, they fast dialouge exchanged between the two is classic. Anytime you see this guy in the movie, be advised it's time to get out the rubber underwear.
Lewis Black

If you're a fan of Lewis Black from The Daily Show or any of his other speeches, you'll be satisfied with his role in this film. His crazy hand and head movements are still as rampid as his political outbursts. He's not the coolest character in this film, but he's worth an honorable mention because the character is very suiting.
Joe Hursley

Joe Hursley is easily in the top five most memorable characters "Accepted" has to offer. He plays an old metal guy named "Maurice" with a massive poopstache that delivers beer to the school. Turns out a couple of my friends met him and made good friends with him when their band went to LA. Joe Hursley also plays in a band, The Ringers, which really play a song at the school. I'd like to be this guy in 10 years, carrying around a microphone and doing jump kicks out of nowhere.
The Good
As I mentioned earlier, this movie doesn't have to include large amounts of swearing, nudity, or drug use to get you to fall off the couch laughing. With that said, there's other lessons to be learned with this movie. It's the idea of college being a system of higher learning, a system of standardization instead of focused education on things people feel passionate about. I have to admit this was perfect timing for me or anyone else who is fed up with Delta College. These kids realize that you shouldn't have to take hours upon hours of classes on math, social science, and other bullshit classes. Take what you want, take what you're interested in and enjoy the experience. I have a very negative stance on college in general, but this movie reassured that footing. If you agree that college been diluted with alcohol and concentrated more on social events and sports rather than free speech and free thought, this movie will also do you justice.
The Bad
Alot of people complain with the realistic side of the movie. How a couple of kids can lease a building and completely transform it into a college that's able to fool their parents. Another part of the movie that doesn't do justice are the trailers. When this movie first launched in theaters, it looked retarded! If they showed the highlights of this movie without spoiling the movie, it would've sold alot more tickets!.
